    New Theme Park to be build in Hwaseong

      In Hwaseong (Gyeonggi Province) new international theme park is planned to be build.

      Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced this Thursday that contract to start the construction of an international theme park in Hwaseong was signed. New park will be build by consortium: Shinsegae property and Shinsegae Eng. and Construction.

      New contract was signed thanks to efforts after changes to the development plans was authorized in December 2019.

      Previous ideas where in the air for more than ten years, ideas on building Korean style Disneyland and Universal studios wasn't successfull.

      In 2019 Korean government restarted this project after choosing Shinsegae consortium.

      Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group Chung Yong-jin said: “We will build a theme park not just for the domestic market, but something that can be called the landmark of Asia, something that we’ve never seen before, in order to contribute to the nation’s tourism industry and the local economy.”

      Investment of 4.5 trillion won ( US $3.7 billion ) by Shinsegae Property to build new theme park on over 3.16 million sq. meters in Hwaseong, (45 km from Seoul).

      CEO of Shinsegae Lim Yeong-rok said that his group will focus on establishing one of the most renowned landmarks, based on cutting-edge IT technologies and leading content.

      Hotels, shopping malls, golf ranges connected by It technologies will be accommodated by the park to attract all age groups visitors. Park is planned to open its doors in 2026 and grand opening apporximately scheduled for 2031. Construction will start 2021 after all necessary licenses will be aquired from Korean authorities.
