Guy Laliberte sells his remaining stake of Cirque du Soleil

    • Description

Founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberte selling his last piece of a pie after almost thirty six years after founding Cirque du Soleil circus.

Quebec based pansion share Caisse will buy 10% remaining stake in Cirque du Soleil. After transaction, Caisse will double their shares to about twenty percent.

Guy Laliberte said that he is happy to sell his stock to Quebec, after owning 90% of Cirque du Soleil, he will still be involved into the entertainment industry with his current and future projects. We aren't sure about why Guy decided to sell Cidrque du Soleil, possibly due to the growing concern of Covid 19 spreading quickly all around the world and of course when virus will spread worldwide it will definitely affect Cirque du Soleil business as well as world economy in general and company will loose its value or even go bankrupt.

Amount hasn't been specified and transaction was closed last Monday.

As you may know, TPG Capital (USA) is a majority stakeholder of Cirque du Soleil. Currently Cirque has around 1500 employees at the head office in Montreal and about 5000 people working on touring and permanent shows around the globe.

It is hard to predict future of this entertainment giant, but we hope to see Cirque du Soleil for many years to come.
