Cirque du Soleil will begin reopening in 2021, hopefully to be fully back in operation in 2022.

  World know Cirque du Soleil with headquarters in Montreal, QC is officially emerged from bancruptcy protection after its sale to lenders.

  CEO Daniel Lamarre said that "“We are not going to go back to normalcy until a majority of people have had the vaccine,” Lamarre said. “I feel strongly that when that situation goes back to normal and I like to think it will be late summer or early fall (2021), it’s my belief that people are going to rush back to live shows because they’ve been confined so they’ll want to go out and enjoy themselves.”

  Daniel as a true leader of this amazing company believes that shows will start to reopen in 2021 to be fully back on track in 2022. Daniel Lamarre is optimistic and at the same time very realistic, he said that everything will depend on availability of Covid-19 vaccine. 

  Cirque mechanism is very complicated and delicate and fragile, it will be hard to predict how pandemic situation will affect everyone in the nearest future and coming years, that's why Daniel Lamarre noted that company will be back to its capacity, but only “ when the vaccine is highly distributed and that we don’t have to have social distancing in our theatres and in our big tops … in an ideal world, I would love to open a show in the Old Port next summer and would love to open a couple of shows in Vegas in the meantime.”

  Lamarre noted "We think that we will start to open shows late summer, early fall, but the reality is that we think we can be up and running in 2022, so the real target for us is 2022, which means that between now and then we will have a lot to do.”

  This Tuesday Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group was sold to its secure lenders and transaction was officially closed. That allows Cirque du Soleil to emerge from bankruptcy protection.

  Catalyst Capital Group, Sound Point Capital and CBAM Partners and Benefit Street Partners are the companies (group of lenders) taking over the Cirque. Previous shareholders TPG Capital (USA) and Fosun International (China), Caisse de dépôt et du placement du Québec (QC) lost control over the company.
